Former Rock Island basketball coach dies after battling cancer

ROCK ISLAND, Illinois — The community is remembering a coaching legend who lost his battle to pancreatic cancer on Sunday, Nov. 13.

Duncan Reid, 80, was a fixture at Rock Island High School, where the coached their boys' basketball team for 21 years, piling up a 469-145 record. He won a 3rd place and two 4th place trophies. He retired from coaching the team in 2001.

Reid's legacy goes far beyond the court, as he helped many of his players after their basketball years.
