US Marines celebrate 241st birthday ahead of Veterans Day

Thursday, Nov. 10, marks the 241st birthday of the U.S. Marine Corps.

The corps was initially known as the Continental Marines.

The force was founded on November 10, 1775. The Marine Corps motto of "semper fidelis," or semper fi, translates to "always faithful."

The birthday of the Marines Corps comes one day before Veterans Day, which is November 11.
