PRINCETON, Ill. — Someone handed out candy infused with cannabis during trick-or-treating in the small town of Manlius, Illinois on Sunday, according to the Bureau County Sheriff’s Department.

Police said parents reported “suspicious” candy wrappers called Crunch Choco Bar with pictures of marijuana leaves on them. The bars inside were field tested and came back positive for cannabis.

Chief Deputy Bret Taylor said it does not appear any children ate the marijuana-infused candy. Several bars were discovered at the fire department, which hosts a post trick-or-treat party and offers candy inspection for kids and parents.

“As far as we know, no one ate any,” he said. Taylor also said it was unclear how much of the candy was distributed, but it was to more than one child.

The incident remains under investigation and as of Monday afternoon police had not identified which residence in town was handing out the bars.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Bureau County Sheriff’s Office at (815) 875-3344.
