Pets aren’t a fan of tricks or treats this season

Halloween may be fun for humans, but it can be a dangerous time for pets.

Halloween may be fun for humans, but it can be a dangerous time for pets. The Quad City Animal Welfare Center says trick-or-treating can be stressful for dogs and cats.

They recommend keeping your pets in a separate room to avoid the chance they might dart through an open door. Also, be sure to keep any Halloween candy out of your furry friend's reach.

"Sweetners can be a problem too, so even if it isn't a chocolate thing, it still might have some ingredients that are unsafe for pets, so just keep it in a high place where your pets can't get into it," said Lindsay Hocker with the QCAWC.

Pumpkin seeds and corn can also be a choking hazard for pets, so keep those treats far from your pets.
