One confirmed dead in early morning crash on I-80 in Bettendorf

BETTEHDORF, Iowa - A portion of Interstate 80 westbound was down to one lane after a fatal crash in Bettendorf.

The crash involving a semi happened 3 a.m., Friday, October 28, 2016 near Mile Marker 302, just east of the Middle Road. A spokesperson from the Scott County Sheriff's Department confirmed that one person died in the crash.

A tow truck was at the scene around 6 a.m. trying to get the semi off the embankment.

Initial reports indicated that the semi-driver lost control of his vehicle and swerved into a ditch.
