DAVENPORT — Visitors to Analog Arcade Bar in downtown Davenport Tuesday will have a chance to see a world record attempt live in real time.

Lonnie McDonald, the self-described “Joust Master”, will be seeking to break his own world record of 10,111,750 points on the popular stand-up arcade game that debuted in arcades across the country in 1982. That happens to be also the year of McDonald’s first brush with Joust-induced fame. He once ran up over 37 million points playing Joust for 24 hours on a single quarter.

A full list of McDonald’s Joust records can be found here.

“The man used a single quarter in 1982 to play for 24 hours straight and become the original Joust World Champion; that alone is amazing!” said Kyle Carter, one of Analog’s co-founders. “We can’t wait to watch Lonnie attempt to set yet another world record by beating his own high score on Tuesday in the heart of the Quad Cities.”

Analog opened just about one year ago, amid a resurgence in popularity of vintage stand-up video games and pinball machines. It boasts more than 70 arcade games and pinball machines, along with a full bar.

McDonald will arrive at Analog around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. He is currently attempting to set another record by playing Joust in all 50 states. The machine at Analog will be the 134th different cabinet McDonald has played on during this quest.
