Arrests made in baseball bat attack and stabbing, more pending

Davenport police say they’ve arrested two people in a fight involving baseball bats and a stabbing on the city’s west side late Monday night.

Davenport police say they've arrested two people in a fight involving baseball bats and a stabbing on the city's west side late Monday night.

Two friends walking the streets to raise money and awareness for the homeless, happened to find themselves in the middle of the aftermath.

"We walked up there, recording live on Facebook, and we ended up seeing screaming going on, three or four girls hysterical. They had 9-1-1 on the line. Someone apparently beat them up, broke their windows," said Andress Rodriguez.

"With baseball bats, all the windows in the van were busted out. Even one of the bats was still hanging out of the window," said Angela McNeal.

A young woman in the vehicle was inside, apparently stabbed in the arm.

"The one girl was all bloody," said McNeal.

Police arrived, and took the victim to the hospital, where she was treated for a non-life threatening wound.

Rodriguez and McNeal had embarked on a 24-hour experiment, living life on the streets, with nothing but the clothes on their backs, and one cell phone.

"We left without money, we had to ask people for money at the stores to keep us going.  There's a lot of people that are really struggling on the street", he said.

" I was concerned about my safety, I only got an hour and a half of sleep. I waited for the daytime," Rodriguez said.

Police say they've arrested a juvenile and Sandra Cisneros, an 18-year old woman from Moline, with more arrests pending.
