BETTENDORF, Iowa -- The locking mechanisms on more than 100 units at a storage facility were broken over the weekend, according to staff.

Bettendorf AAA Self Storage Units, located at 5900 State Street, reported the damage that was done sometime over the first weekend in October 2016.

Although the locks were cut, not much was reported missing from the units.  Police had reports of a leaf blower and a jar of change missing as of Monday morning, October 3rd.

The business replaced all 103 broken locks and extra police will be patrolling the area in the coming days.

Staff members at the storage facility are urging customers to come check their units and to report any missing items.  Police are continuing to investigate, but staff members said it appeared to be more an act of vandalism than a theft.
