ID action is hosting a voter training session to Iowans who have disabilities.
15.6 million people with disabilities voted in the national elections in 2012, but the rate is still 5.7% lower nationally than for people who do not have disabilities and 6.3% lower in Iowa.
If people with disabilities voted at the same rate as people without disabilities, approximately 10 million more votes would be cast in each election.
Iowans with Disabilities in Action, ID Action, and the Iowa Disability Vote Coalition, IDVC will be hosting a voter training session for people with disabilities on September 30th at 10am
Voter training encourages Iowans by overcoming the barriers that often keep them from going to the polls.
People who attend the voter training will get information on the following.
- Registering to vote
- Finding information on candidates
- Finding your polling place
- Your voting rights
- Overcoming potential barriers
- Options for voting
The voter training event will be held at Milestones Area Agency on Aging 935 E. 53rd st Davenport, IA
