MOLINE – Rock Island County Coroner Brian Gustafson released the names of two Moline residents who died in separate incidents Monday.

Howard D. Myers, 80, died from smoke inhalation after his home caught on fire  in the 2400 block of 44th Street Wednesday afternoon. Although he was rescued from his basement, along with a dog that survived, Myers succumbed after being taken to Illini Hospital in Silvis for treatment.

Echo Sutton-Downs, 43, also of Moline, was the victim killed in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash near the entrance of Trinity Medical Center on 17th Street in Rock Island Monday morning. Sutton-Downs was taken immediately to the nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Gustafson said an autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday to determine the exact cause of death.
