DAVENPORT, Iowa — A woman has been accused of child endangerment after four children were found left in a hot car at Goodwill.

The four children, all under the age of six, had been left alone in an unlocked vehicle for at least 15 minutes, according to an affidavit filed with the Iowa District Court in Scott County.  The windows were rolled up and there was no air conditioner on.

“When I opened the door the inside of the vehicle was very hot and all the children were sweating,” read the statement signed by Cpl. Michael Schneider.

The court document said that police were called to the Goodwill store at 5360 Villa Drive Wednesday, August 10, 2016 just before 10 a.m.  According to the StormTrack 8 Weather Center, it was about 83 degrees outside at that time, but felt more like 88 degrees because of the humidity.

Courtney Lamer, age 35, from Davenport has been accused of child endangerment in connection with the incident.  Jail records show that she was booked into the Scott County Jail at 10:58 a.m.
