BETTENDORF, Iowa — A four-car accident near Exit 3 (Middle Road/Locust St.) along I-74 in Bettendorf just before 3:20 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10,  forced lane closures and disrupted the afternoon commute for many drivers.

According to Lauran Haldeman, the Bettendorf public information officer, one vehicle ran into the back of another, causing a chain reaction accident that ultimately involved four vehicles. Two individuals were transported to Genesis East for treatment and another was transported to Trinity-UnityPoint in Moline. Their condition has not been released.

All vehicles were towed away from the scene.

Haldeman said the Illinois-bound lanes of I-74 were closed for about 30 minutes and the accident remains under investigation.
