DAVENPORT, Iowa -
The 2016 presidential race continues to shine a spotlight on Iowa.
The Virginia-based political journalism organization, Politico, is naming Scott County as a top-25 battleground county to watch in the November election.
Scott County made the cut out of more than 3,000 counties nationwide.
Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump already knows about making deals in Scott County.
"Get out and vote," he said in Davenport on July 28, 2016. "We're going to start winning again."
The Trump campaign made Davenport its first stop after the Republican National Convention.
"I think it was a real honor and privilege that he came here first out of 99 counties," said Judy Davidson, Scott County Republicans.
Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, no stranger to Scott County, will unveil her jobs plan in Politico's other Iowa battleground county, Polk County, on Wednesday.
"I think America is great," she said during a stop in Davenport on October 6, 2015. "But we could be greater if we do what we need to do together."
Her team is also counting on Scott County to come through for her in November.
"She has to do well here to make sure that she can carry the state of Iowa and get our electoral votes," said Tom Engelmann, Scott County Democrats.
Neither Clinton nor Trump triumphed in first-in-the-nation caucuses set in Scott County.
Sen. Bernie Sanders and Sen. Marco Rubio took top honors there.
That makes the county's largest block of independent voters even more attractive and crucial.
"We are very important to both these candidates," Davidson said. "Not only before the caucuses, but after the caucuses. That's evident as we see them traveling to Iowa."
Both sides agree that work on the ground can get out the votes in Scott County.
Actress Kathy Najimy and Rep. Dave Loebsack were helping to fire up Clinton volunteers in Davenport over the weekend.
Trump, meanwhile, was feeling confident even before entering the race last year.
"If I win, we will be strong again quickly," he said in Davenport, back on April 30, 2015.
Strength and turnout from Scott County will be important for both candidates.
"We're going to make sure that we get everybody we can to the polls on Election Day," Engelmann concluded.
This battleground county should just get busier until November 8.
