BETTENDORF, Iowa - The school board has selected Estes Construction to work on the expansion of Grant Wood Elementary, a $34.5 million project.

Estes, Russell Construction, and General Constructors all pitched their plan to the school board on Monday, August 8, 2016. The district wants to start adding on to Grant Wood next year, in order to make room for more kindergarten and first grade classrooms.

In March, the board voted to add staff, so it could reduce class sizes. The five-year plan would knock class sizes down to the low 20s, to be more equal with neighboring districts. Construction will start during the upcoming school year.
