Bix jazz festival keeps musician’s memory alive in the QCs

The festival wraps up Sunday morning with performances at the Beiderbecke Family’s Home Church in Davenport.

DAVENPORT, Iowa — A huge crowd gathered at the gravesite of Bix Beiderbecke to celebrate his life and music legacy. The concert was a part of the 45th Annual Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Jazz Festival.

Year after year the Bix Society has been striving to keep Mr. Bix's memory alive and preserve jass music in the Quad Cities.

"The sad part is a lot of people here take him for granted, and they shouldn't. That's what this festival is all about and the slogan 'Bix Lives,' he lives in our hearts and year-round," said Steve Trainor with the Bix Society.
