DAVENPORT, Iowa-- The Center for Active Seniors is looking to give out more than 100 boxed fans to people over the age of 50, before the heat advisory takes effect Thursday, July 21.

Back in June, CASI ran out of fans while trying to keep up the  growing demand. As a result, they started receiving multiple donations from people and outside organizations.  As of Wednesday, July 20 CASI has between 100 and 120 fans to give to people  over the age of 50.

CASI Director of Senior Services, Kathy Horrell says this is the largest number of fans the organization has seen at one time, and although the fans are not a permanent solution to avoid sever heat it at least circulates the air.

"A 20 in box style fan is not going to be a permanent source of cooling element but it is a way to help circulate the air and get things moving and preventing your home environment from being stifled," she says.

The fans can be either picked up from CASI or dropped off by a member of the organization.

CASI is also a cooling station Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm, and will continue to give out fans all summer.
