ZEARING, Iowa (AP) — An Iowa man has died in a car crash a day before his youngest son was born.

34-year-old Luke Lodermeier, of Zearing, was driving a semi-truck westbound on Highway 20 around 3:30 a.m. Monday when he hit another semi that had overturned on a curve in the road, KCCI reports.

Investigators say Lodermeier was thrown from the truck, even though he was wearing a seat belt.

The next night, his wife, Kimberlee Lodermeier, gave birth to Edwin, the couple’s third child.

Kimberlee Lodermeier says she knows her husband would have been proud of the baby.

They have two other children, a 2-year-old boy and a 1-year-old girl.
