DAVENPORT, Iowa - People from all walks of life attended the 'Boots on the Ground' meeting to express their concerns about crime and access to guns here in the Quad Cities.

"We know we got some crooked polices, we know we got some crooked children and we know we got some crooked parents now somebody gotta straighten up," said member attendee.

From families to neighborhoods to police, people believe that the communication needs to be better and start speaking up.

"Is there a plan for receiving information from our youth I think that`s a great project for us here and we have the youth here," said Davenport Police Chief, Paul Sikorski.

While some at the meeting believe it's the lack of relationship with police, others said it starts in the community.

"It`s not their job to protect our kids they`re job is to protect businesses it`s our job to raise our kids," said member attendee.

Others at the meeting agreed, protecting kids from gun violence starts at home.
"They say you can`t come in my room, so you don`t go in my room, they making bombs right up under your nose, so we gonna quit pointing the finger at the police and the police gonna quit pointing the finger at us when we start doing something about us."
