Traffic slow-going after crash on I-88 near Hillsdale

HILLSDALE, Illinois - Traffic on Interstate 88 eastbound is down to one lane after two semis were involved in an accident on Friday, July 8, 2016.

The Illinois State Police says the accident happened on I-88 eastbound near Milepost 9 around 4:30 a.m. Friday.  The accident site was in between Hillsdale and Joslin.

Police say the commercial vehicle ran into the back of another commercial vehicle, causing one to go into the center median and catch fire. Both drivers sustained minor injuries and were transported from the scene by EMS.

Just after 8 a.m., police said the eastbound left lane was shutdown for recovery.   The westbound lanes are open.
