ATLANTA — A curious girl in Atlanta made an incredible discovery while digging through the trash. She found a gold medal that had been stolen from an Olympic athlete.
During a walk last month with her dad, 6-year-old Chloe Smith was going through garbage on the ground when she found a gold medal from the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona.
The medal belonged to Whitewater Canoe Slalom Champion Joe Jacobi.
“My daughter did her first good deed, because if not for her being so nosy and into stuff all the time, she’s the one that found it,” said father Wayne Smith.
The medal had been stolen from Jacobi’s car several weeks earlier.
