DAVENPORT, Iowa — Overnight storms have caused flooding on some roadways and police are urging drivers to be careful as they head out.
Crews from the Davenport Police Department and Public Works were out Wednesday morning, July 6, 2016 marking these flooded areas. Police said, however, it is possible that some flooded roadways may not be marked.
Some of the flooded areas included East River Drive where it intersects with 4th and Federal Streets; River Drive and Marquette Street; and Elmore Avenue, north of 53rd Street.
Around 8 a.m., flooding along River Drive had cleared up.
“Motorists are reminded to not drive through standing water as it can be deeper than it appears,” said a statement from the police department. “Several vehicles have already become stranded in standing water.”
