Moline men found guilty of beating dog

Two men have been found guilty after they were accused of beating a dog with boxing gloves.

MOLINE, Illinois -- Two men have been found guilty after they were accused of beating a dog with boxing gloves.

Back in October of 2015, Andrew Meegan and Ryan Ramon were charged with cruelty to animals when police were told the pair had beaten a 12-year-old Chow/Collie mix named "Bear."  When police responded to the initial report, they found the dog bleeding from its eye.

On Tuesday, June 28, 2016, Meegan and Ramon, now both 23, were found guilty in Rock Island County court, online court records show.  A sentencing hearing was pending.

Court records show that "Bear" was sold to a new owner in late October.  According to a report by QC Online, "Bear" used to be owned by Meegan's father.  After the dog was beaten, the Rock Island County Animal Shelter kept "Bear" until a family member assumed ownership.
