When faced with all the options, Quad Cities knew the best toppings for a hot dog are ketchup and mustard, but they couldn’t decide between the two.

We asked: “When all is said and done, your hot dog would be nothing without, what?”

Quad Citians decided that it was an even tie between ketchup and mustard, at 33.82%.  Other high ranked toppings were relish, chili, onions, and sauerkraut. Take a look at the poll results below.

A national poll that asked the same question showed that mustard prevailed over ketchup.  While most of  the poll, conducted by the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council (NHDSC), had similar results, with the next most-popular toppings also being ketchup, onions, chili, relish, and sauerkraut.

On the NHDSC poll, jalapenos ranked No. 8, but they didn’t fare as well in the Quad Cities.
