Shoes for homeless veterans to be collected during 4th of July weekend

EAST MOLINE, Illinois -- Calling all running shoes!

New or slightly used running shoes are being collected as part of the Firecracker Run Shoe Drive and will be given to homeless veterans in the Quad Cities area.

If you have any shoes you'd like to get rid of, you can donate them during the Firecracker race weekend during packet pickup times.

Donations will be accepted at the QC Running Club Headquarters, at 733 15th Avenue in East Moline during the following times:

  • Saturday, July 2nd from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
  • Sunday, July 3rd from 2 p.m. - 6 p.m.
  • Monday, July 4th from 6 a.m. - 8 a.m.
