Car parked between Davenport apartments struck by gunfire

DAVENPORT, Iowa — A car parked near apartment buildings was shot in the middle of the night, Sunday, June 19, 2016.

Investigators found out that there had been a “disturbance” among a group of people in a nearby parking lot before the gunfire rang out, around 3:30 a.m., according to a statement from the Davenport Police Department.  It happened in the 500 block of Iowa Street, an area located between the Davenport Lofts and the Crescent Lofts.

Police did find shell casings in the area, the statement said.

A 30-year-old man, Jasper Mayfield, was arrested for interference with official acts for obstructing on the scene investigation.

There were no reported injuries.
