ROCK ISLAND, Illinois--- Summer enrichment programs sponsored by the Spring Forward Learning Center are partnering with the Rock Island Public Library to bring kids more books for the summer.

The program is called 'On your marks, get set, read,' the center held a small parade, Wednesday June 15, to kick-off the partnership.

Dan McNeil, the executive director of Spring Forward Learning Center says the goal is to keep kids academically involved during the summer.

"We learn and we play and we have fun. So there's a really great balance but we still focus on again trying to curve Summer learning loss, what they call the Summer slide, that happens in the Summer months," he says.

The Rock Island Public Library donated hundreds of books for almost 400 students in Summer programs in Rock Island and Milan.
