MADRID, Iowa — Two people were arrested after officers found homemade explosives during a search of the couple’s home in rural Boone County.

Officers started their search just before 1 p.m. Monday, June 13, 2016 at a home about a half-mile west of Madrid at a home in the 2300 block of QW Lane.  A search warrant was issued after deputies found drug items and explosive devices when they stopped a car, driven by Leanna Haidsiak on Saturday, June 11, according to the Associated Press.

Haidsiak and Tjaden Mallory were arrested and “charged with possessing offensive weapons, with other charges pending” according to a statement by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators found “numerous pipe bombs and weapons were located all around the acreage,” the sheriff’s office statement said.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Dallas Wingate says there is no evidence that terrorism is involved, according to a report from the Associated Press.

Jail records showed Haidsiak and Mallory remained in the Boone County Jail as of Tuesday morning, June 14.
