BETTENDORF, Iowa -- When a pipe broke, causing water to leak from a second floor bathroom down to the first floor, the public library was forced to close.

It is expected that the library will remain closed for at least three months while cleanup and repairs are done. The good news, is that most of the library's collection is still in "good condition," according to the city's public information officer, Lauran Haldeman.

Library patrons who have checked out items:

You are asked to hold on to the items for the time being.

"Any fines associated with the closing will be waived," said a statement from Haldeman.

If you don't want to keep the checked out items, you can return them to Davenport, LeClaire, Scott County, Musser, Clinton or the libraries at Eastern Iowa Community College.

For anyone who has materials on hold, library staff is still working to figure out how to get them distributed.

Summer Reading Program continues:

The Summer Read Program will go on as scheduled, but they will now be moved to Bettendorf High School instead.

The program goes from Tuesday, May 31, 2016 through Saturday, July 30.

The Summer Concert Series will continue as planned.

The concerts are on Thursdays from June 2 through August 11, and will be held at Faye's Field on 18th Street, just south of the library.  Click here to see the schedule.
