MUSCATINE, Iowa - Police are looking for the driver who hit a teenager and drove off.

The teen walked away with some bruises and scratches, but his bike is destroyed.

On Friday May 13th, 17-year-old Alex Pobuda was riding his bike to get a drink from a convenience store.

On his way home he says a woman was texting and driving and drove into Poduba's lane.

"I just flung underneath the car," said Poduba.

Pobuda says the driver hit him and took off, "I said I was going to call the cops."

For some, it's easy to replace their bike, but for Pobuda, it means losing his independence.

"Most 17-year-olds would have a car and they would be getting around, but because of his autism he has to rely on his bike," said his mom, Angela Stevens.

Pobuda thought his summer plans were ruined, little did he know there was a surprise waiting for him.

Radio Dj Tony Tone and the owner of Diamonds on the Avenue wanted to help, so they paid for a new bike.

"It's shown Alex you know the kindness of people in the community and people really do care," said Stevens.

Investigators say they're looking for a dark-colored car, that has a noticeable dent on the passenger side rear bumper.

The driver is thought to be a white female between the ages of 16 and 20.
