CHICAGO (AP) — A Chicago man who has twice been convicted of falsely impersonating a police officer has been charged with doing so again.

Chicago police say 47-year-old Hong Chu was driving on Chicago’s South Side when he pulled his vehicle behind another vehicle and climbed out wearing police insignia on his t-shirt and carrying handcuffs on his belt.  Chu allegedly told the driver that he was a police officer before he left.

Chu was spotted by police a short time later and taken into custody.

Chu is charged with a felony count of impersonating a peace officer and was scheduled to appear in court Monday, May 16, 2016. It wasn’t immediately clear if he had an attorney.

The Chicago Tribune reports that Chu was on probation for his second offense when he was arrested.
