MITCHELLSVILLE, Ill. (AP) — Authorities in central Illinois have found the pickup truck that was allegedly stolen by a man suspected of shooting a police officer in the arm last weekend.

The Illinois State Police won’t say exactly where they found the abandoned truck. But they do say that they’ve intensified their search for Dracy “Clint” Pendleton in the Lusk Creek Wilderness Area in Pope County.

Law enforcement officers have kept the 5,000-acre wilderness area closed to the public since Monday. Pendleton is believed to be armed with an AK-47.

Pendleton is suspected of shooting a Mahomet police officer Saturday night after a traffic stop. Police believe that Pendleton might have been shot in the neck during the exchange of gunfire with the officer and might attempt to seek medical attention.
