CHICAGO — The Shedd Aquarium revealed today that its two-week-old Pacific white-sided dolphin calf is a male.
The calf was born on April 18, reports WGN.
The two-week-old continues to thrive along with the help of first-time mother Katrl.
Aquarium officials say he’s already surpassed several critical milestones in development, including: taking his first breath, bonding with his mom, nursing, and learning to slipstream — that’s a technique that allows the baby dolphin to save energy by swimming in his mother’s wake.
