Scott County’s new administrator expected to begin this July

SCOTT COUNTY, Iowa — The Scott County Board of Supervisors will have a new administrator expected to start work July 5.

Mahesh Sharma of Raymore, Missouri will be formally approved and appointed at the board's meeting Thursday, May 5.

Sharma received a bachelor's degree in civil engineering in India and holds a master's degree of civil engineering from the University of Missouri-Columbia and public administration from the University of Kansas. He is currently the city administrator for Raytown, Missouri. There he manages a staff of 224 and a budget of $30 million.

Waters and Company conducted a national search for a new administrator and Sharma was selected from a pool of 36 applicants. Three finalists were announced in April.

After 35 years of service, current County Administrator Dee Bruemmer retires June 3. Bruemmer was an assistant administrator for 27 years before she was appointed to the county administrator position in 2008.
