Human remains found on Big Island in Milan, Illinois

MILAN, Illinois - Human remains were reportedly found on Big Island in Milan, Illinois.

Someone walking along the shoreline discovered the remains on Thursday, April 14, 2016.  Authorities were working to identify the remains, according to Rock Island County Coroner Brian Gustafson.

Using dental records, they were expected to have an identification on Tuesday, April 19, Gustafson said.  There were no immediate clues released about the identity, gender, or age of the person whose remains were found.

The investigation is ongoing, and is being led by the Rock Island County Sheriff's Department.

Big Island is located along Interstate 280 between Wicks Lake and the Hennepin Canal.
