DAVENPORT-Iowa, In his first State of the City Address, Davenport Mayor Frank Klipsch stressed his dedication to staying transparent while in office as well as focusing on ways to examine public safety in the community.

Since talking office almost 100 days ago, the Mayor says he is working with the city council to encourage more people to attend public meetings. He's also asking Davenport residents to use online tools to keep and eye on how much the city is spending.

"One thing is this Open Check Book and Open Pay roll you can get online and see everything we've spent money on in the last month," he says.

To increase the city's public safety efforts, the Mayor plans to work with both the Davenport Fire and Police Chiefs to start getting the community involved in the Blue Ribbon Committee, because he says simply making arrest is not enough to keep the community safe.

"We can't arrest our way out of this issue, it's a bigger issue....We need to maximize our resources, minimize cost but make sure that we provide the top level of public services we can," he says."

Moving forward Klipsch says he wants to continue to work on Davenport's investments of almost $30 million in streets and sewer projects and working with the other four mayors in the Quad Cities to bring the region together as a whole.
