Teen charged after cemetery headstones vandalized in Muscatine

A 17-year-old girl faces criminal charges in connection with damage to dozens of headstones at a cemetery in Muscatine, Iowa.

MUSCATINE, Iowa - A 17-year-old girl faces criminal charges in connection with damage to dozens of headstones at a cemetery in Muscatine, Iowa.

Approximately 50 headstones were "toppled over and damaged" at Greenwood Cemetery, 1814 Lucas Street, the night of April 3, 2016, according to Muscatine Police Lt. Tim Hull.

Damage to the cemetery was estimated at $3,000.

Hadassah Lahr, 17, was arrested just before 9:30 a.m. Monday, April 11, 2016; she was charged with felony second-degree criminal mischief in connection with the damage to the cemetery.

Court records showed Lahr was also on probation in connection with a forgery charge filed against her in November 2015; and that she was previously placed on probation for unrelated criminal mischief and assault charges in 2014.
