April 7 is National Beer Day!

It was first celebrated in 2009 before social media could help these holidays spread. The date was chosen as April 7, 1933 was the day President Franklin Roosevelt signed a law to allow people to brew and sell beer, a step toward ending Prohibition.

Last year, the number of breweries in the country reached an all time high, beating a record that stood since 1873. Iowa now has four festivals dedicated to breweries and Iowa-made beer.

Here in the Quad Cities, our show Brewed helps to highlight the breweries that have made their home in our area. A new episode debuted last Sunday and you'll be able to see new episodes all year.

Be sure to follow Brewed on Twitter and catch new episodes on the website at BrewedTV.com.
