CHICAGO — A Chicago brewery says the circle of life can help keep their brewing area sanitary. Rats have become a big program so feral cats have been brought in to help.

At the Empirical Brewery, four cats have been brought in to keep the rats away. Head brewer Nevin McCown said he got fed up with the rats creating holes in bags of grain. The cats are part of a work program at the Tree House Humane Society.

The cats' scent act as a natural deterrent.

The brewery is in an area of Chicago with at least three breweries and one distillery within a five block radius.
