St. Ambrose to break ground on $21 million wellness center

St. Ambrose University will break ground on the largest capitol project in school history.

DAVENPORT, Iowa -- St. Ambrose University will break ground on the largest capitol project in school history.

Plans were announced April 6 for an 80,000 square foot wellness and recreation center. The new center will cost roughtly $21 million and include a field house, indoor track, weight room and an exercise physiology lab for students in health and wellness programs.

"Today's students are so committed to wellness and fitness that the need for a facility like this is quite incredible," said Sally Crino, SAU Associate Vice President.

Crews will break ground Thursday afternoon, April 7. Construction is expected to be finished by fall of 2017.
