BETTENDORF, Iowa -- A 15-year-old student is facing charges after she reportedly stabbed a 16-year-old classmate at Bettendorf High School.

According to the City of Bettendorf's public information officer, "a 15-year-old female student stabbed a 16-year-old male student with a knife." He had injuries to his back and arm. The injured student was treated at school and was not taken to the hospital.   The incident happened around 8 a.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2016.

Classes went on as usual and there was no lockdown issued, according to an earlier statement from the school district.

Some students say they were surprised something like that would happen at BHS, "You don`t expect a lot of that stuff to happen at Bettendorf, because Bettendorf seems good and then all this happens," said Taylor Ward.

The 15-year-old was taken to Scott County Juvenile Detention Center where she was expected to be held until a court hearing on Thursday.  She was charged with willful injury, being armed with intent, assault with intent to commit serious injury, and assault with a dangerous weapon.
