More than 5,000 child porn images discovered on Iowa man’s computer, sentenced to 10 years

MEDIAPOLIS, Iowa — A Mediapolis, Iowa man was sentenced March 20 to seven years in prison for receiving child pornography.

Thomas James McLaughlin, 48, pleaded guilty to receiving child porn in October 2015. His electronic devices were seized during a search of his home and authorities discovered more than 5,000 images and 271 videos of child porn, according to court documents.

McLaughlin was ordered to serve 10 years of supervised release following the prison term. He must also comply with sex offender registry requirements and pay $100 toward the Crime Victim’s Fund.
