CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — A Cedar Rapids man was sentenced April 1, 2016 to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty September 2015 to conspiracy to distribute heroin and fentanyl resulting in serious bodily injury and death.
DeShaun Anderson, 44, admitted to working with others to distribute heroin and the opiate fentanyl in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Anderson also admitted that on four occasions, users suffered serious bodily injury and that two people had died as a result of using the drug he and his group distributed, according to court documents.
Court documents also say that between January and April 2015, at least four other people lost consciousness but did not suffer serious injuries.
Anderson was also ordered to pay $12,371 in restitution and must serve four years of supervised released after he gets out of prison.
