Three explosions at an airport and subway in Brussels killed and injured a massive amount of people on Tuesday morning, March 22, 2016.

Several people are dead after three explosions in Brussels, Belgium on Tuesday, March 22, 2016.

The first two explosions happened at the city's airport on Tuesday morning. Officials say the airport explosions were possibly caused by a suicide attack. The third happened at a subway station. All public transit was closed in the city.

Mayor Yvan Majeur said at least 20 people have died and 106 people were injured in the attack on the Maelbeek subway station, which is close to the European Union headquarters. Earlier, another top Belgian official said 11 people were killed and 81 were wounded in twin explosions at the Brussels airport.

In all, more than 30 people have been killed and more than 185 wounded in the three blasts.

Belgian federal prosecutor Frederic Van Leeuw says that all three explosions "were terrorist attacks," according to the Associated Press.

The terror threat level in Belgium has been raised to a level four, its highest level. The incident comes just a few days after a suspect in the Paris terror attacks was arrested in Belgium. No word if there is any connection to ISIS.
