A confirmed EF-2 tornado tore through rural Rock Island County, hitting towns like Hampton, Rapids City, and outside East Moline.

The map above from the National Weather Service (NWS) shows the path of the destructive tornado that hit Tuesday evening, March 15, 2016.  It touched down at 7:25 p.m. and traveled 4.8 miles in 10 minutes, ripping through 40 homes in its path.  Four homes were destroyed in the Evergreen Village subdivision, according to the NWS.

Wind speeds reached 130 mph with this tornado, which was 200 yards wide.

Ten people reported having minor injuries from the storm.
