ROCK ISLAND, Illinois — US Congresswoman Cheri Bustos was in Rock Island Wednesday, March 9 touring the MetroLink's self sufficient maintenance facility.
The building's design includes a solar panel display, a water reclamation system and a solar thermal system - making it one of the Quad Cities' most energy-efficient buildings.
During her visit, Bustos discussed federal funding opportunities that MetroLink can apply for within the coming year to help update other equipment, too.
"You've got to be in a position where you're upgrading your fleet for reliability. Right now some older buses need to be retired and so it's a matter of keeping up with that," said Bustos.
Bustos also announced that MetroLink recently partnered with Uber to make transportation around the Quad Cities even more convenient.
