Leonardo DiCaprio wins his first Oscar

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Leonardo DiCaprio had the nation’s ear when he won his first Oscar after five nominations.

And he gave us an earful about trying to save the Earth from global warming. After accepting his Oscar for best actor — and appearing before reporters backstage — DiCaprio called for action to save the earth.  He declared that “climate change is real” and “is happening right now.”

He says it’s time to stop procrastinating and work together. DiCaprio was considered a lock to win the best actor nod — and he ended up winning the award. He said that just as he doesn’t take his Oscar for granted, people shouldn’t take the planet for granted.
