An indefinite layoff impacting about 100 employees has been announced at John Deere.

An indefinite layoff impacting about 100 employees has been announced at John Deere.

The layoffs were handed to manufacturing workers in the construction and forestry division, according to a statement from Global Public Relations Director Ken Golden.  About 80 employees affected were from John Deere Davenport works, the other 20 were from the Dubuque facility.

The announcement came Friday, February 26, 2016 and the layoff was set to begin April 1, the statement said.

According to the statement, the layoffs were part of "the company's ongoing efforts to balance the size of its manufacturing workforce with market demand for products at individual factories."
