Police hope someone can help them identify the remains of one of four people whose bodies were found in the garage at a home in Riverdale, Illinois.

Family members reportedly found the bodies of four people, in various stages of decomposition, at Anton Godfrey’s home Wednesday, September 9, 2015.  Investigators also found a box that contained cremation ashes with an identification tag at the home.  Headstones for two women, buried in 2009 and 2013, were also found at the home.

The discovery was made after Mr. Godfrey died.  Police said Godfrey was the subject of multiple court orders to stop his home mortuary practice.

The cremated remains, and three of the bodies, were identified and next of kin were notified.

“Dental records of the fourth body have been completed through the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office; however, there is not an identified person to compare the dental records with,” said a statement from Illinois State Police issued Tuesday, January 26, 2016.

“The ISP is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the remains of the unidentified body,” the statement said.  “Anyone that may have information on this investigation is asked to please contact the ISP Zone 1 Investigations at 847-294-4600.”
