NEWTON, Iowa (AP) — A 33-year-old man, who police say used a hammer to attack a woman, has been sentenced to two years in prison.
Abraham Stone had pleaded guilty to domestic abuse assault. Prosecutors lowered the charge from attempted murder in exchange for Stone’s plea. He was sentenced last week.
The Newton Daily News reports that Jasper County sheriff’s deputies say Stone choked the woman and used the hammer to strike her on November 16, 2015, in Newton.
Deputies say the woman’s injuries were minor.
