Dole Fresh Vegetables has issued a recall for salads sold under several brands, made at its plant in Springfield, Ohio.
The company issued the recall when it also temporarily suspended operations at the plant, according to an announcement from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on January 22, 2016.
The recall was announced after an investigation, of a possible Listeria infections outbreak was launched in late 2015. Twelve people were hospitalized, and one person died, as a result of listeriosis, and all of the illnesses were connected, the announcement said.
It took until January 2016 to determine that packaged salads, produced at the Ohio plant and sold under a variety of brand names, are the likely source of the outbreak. The brands affected include Dole, Fresh Selections, Simple Truth, Marketside, The Little Salad Bar, and President’s Choice.
Salads made at the affected plant have the letter “A” at the beginning of the manufacturing code on the package. Products with a “B” or “N” in the manufacturing code are not part of the recall.

Dole stopped all production at the facility Thursday, January 21.
